Proceeds from the sale of this plate will be distributed to the South Carolina National Guard Foundation and used for military family and veteran support programs. The Army Distinguished Service Medal license plate is available to South Carolina residents who have been awarded the Army Distinguished Service Medal. You must present official documentation certifying that you have been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for the Army along with a completed Application for Military Plate (SCDMV Form MV-37). Surviving spouse may obtain a new plate in their name if not remarried and complete the Surviving Spouse Certification on the application. This plate allows free parking at municipal parking meters. This plate is exempt from fees. You may be issued three plates within the plate class to include Army Distinguished Service Medal and Army Distinguished Service Medal Motorcycle. This plate is available by mail only.

You must complete Application for Military Plate (SCDMV Form MV-37) and must submit a Department of Defense Form DD-214, Purple Heart Citation, or a letter from the US, Regional, or County Veterans Administration certifying that you are a recipient of the Purple Heart. This plate allows free parking at municipal parking meters. There is no cost for this plate. You may be issued three plates within the plate class to include Purple Heart, Purple Heart Wheelchair, and Purple Heart Motorcycle. This plate is available by mail only.

To receive handicapped privileges you must be certified permanently handicapped by a licensed physician on the Disabled License Plate and Placard Application (SCDMV Form RG-007A)

The Pearl Harbor license plate is available to South Carolina residents who were a member of the United States Armed Forces on December 7, 1941, were on station on December 7, 1941, during the hours of 7:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Hawaii time at Pearl Harbor, the Island of Oahu, or offshore at a distance not exceeding three miles; and received an honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces.

All applications for Pearl Harbor plates must be verified by the South Carolina State Chairman of Pearl Harbor Survivors.
