A demolisher or secondary metals recycler (SMR) may not get rid of a vehicle without at least one of the following:

It is the responsibility of the demolisher and/or SMR to check with the SCDMV if the vehicle was reported stolen before disposing of a vehicle that does not have a valid title, magistrate’s order of sale, or sheriff’s disposal authority. If these forms are not available, you may submit the Affidavit of Disposal of Vehicle to a Demolisher/Secondary Metals Recycler (SMR).
The SCDMV stolen vehicle check allows authorized members to perform VIN checks on vehicles which were sold through an affidavit to verify whether the vehicles have been reported stolen.

Member Services will assign a user ID and password to the business administrator. Authorized agents will have online access to the NMVTIS stolen vehicle data for inquiry purposes only.
