Disabled Plates

Disabled plates are available at any SCDMV branch. You must submit a Disabled License Plate and Placard Application (SCDMV Form RG-007A) with Section 4 Physician's Statement completed by a licensed physician. If you own a vehicle that has a license plate for a person with a disability, you must have the registration card that lists the names of all eligible people with a disability who can drive or be carried in that vehicle. When you renew your plate for a person with a disability, you will receive a new plate and registration. Plates for people who have a disability who drive motorcycles are also available. Businesses are not required to certify with a physician. However, businesses with plates for people with disabilities must carry registration cards. Business certificates will not list names of people with disabilities, but the certificate will indicate that the vehicle is entitled to park in designated parking spaces.
