SCDMV Express Kiosk Change

The SCDMV Express kiosk at the Publix at Thornblade Village in Greer is relocating to the Publix at Poplar Springs Plaza, 2153 East Main St, Duncan, SC 29334, in Spartanburg County. The new location goes live Tuesday, July 14. Customers can continue to use the kiosks in Columbia and Summerville, or complete transactions online.

Technical Difficulties

The Chester branch is having technical difficulties with the cameras and cannot issue credentials at this time. Please consider visiting an alternate location for credentialing.

Purchased a New License Plate

If you purchase a new license plate for your vehicle, your old plate immediately becomes invalid once your new plate arrives.  You can now decommission your license plate online. You do not need to physically turn in your old license plate when using this option, but you are encouraged to recycle the license plate once you complete the online deactivation.

If your license plate is expired, you do not need to decommission your license plate. Only active license plates can be decommissioned.

You also have the option to complete the License Plate Surrender (SCDMV Form 452) and mail the form plus your old plate to the address below:

Sold My Vehicle

If you're turning in your license plate because you sold your vehicle, you must do all of the following:

If your license plate is expired, you do not need to return your license plate. Only active license plates can be returned.

Moving to a New State

If you're moving to a new state, you must first update your vehicle insurance company and then return your license plate once you register your vehicle in your new state.
