Exchange My License Plate 

To exchange your license plate, all of the following must be true:

• Your registration must be in good standing with the SCDMV.
• Your decal expiration must not expire within 90 days.
• You must have a valid VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express for payment.
• You must have your current vehicle registration in front of you.
• Your address on file with the SCDMV must be correct.
• Please note, any changes or additions to your address will prompt a mailer to be sent to your previous address on file.

If you meet the above requirements, you may exchange your current license plate for a new plate online.

Replace A Lost, Stolen, or Damaged License Plate 

To replace a lost, stolen, or damaged license plate, all of the following must be true:

• Your license plate must be in good standing with the SCDMV.
• You must have your current vehicle registration in front of you.
• Your address on file with the SCDMV must be correct.
• Please note, any changes or additions to your address will prompt a mailer to be sent to your previous address on file.

If you meet the above requirements, you may replace your lost, stolen, or damaged license plate with the same plate type online.
